Minox Repairs — Rest of World
This page is for customers sending Minox cameras from outside the
United Kingdom, European Union and Switzerland for repair.
Scope of service:
MS Hobbies repairs Minox 35 mm and Minox 8×11 mm cameras only.
Other camera brands are not serviced.
International customers
International customers are welcome, and Minox cameras are received regularly from:

- 🇨🇳 China
- 🇦🇺 Australia
- 🇳🇿 New Zealand
- 🇯🇵 Japan (occasional)
- 🇨🇦 Canada
- 🇸🇬 Singapore
- 🇭🇰 Hong Kong
If your country is not listed, you may still send your Minox camera —
the process is the same.
Before sending your camera
- Test shutter behaviour (with and without film)
- Check film advance for smooth movement
- Check viewfinder clarity
- Test flash using the correct flash cover
- Check batteries:
- Minox 35 → PX27
- Minox 8×11 → Golden Power
- Clean battery contacts
- Confirm correct polarity
If film is present inside the camera, send it as‑is.
Do not attempt to force rewind or disassemble unfamiliar mechanisms.
Important notes
- Flash covers are not interchangeable. An incorrect cover will prevent synchronisation.
- PX27 batteries do not fit Minox 8×11 cameras.
- No full overhauls: repairs are targeted and fault‑specific.
Premium repairs — VEF Riga / Minox II
Early VEF Riga and Minox II cameras require specialist handling, close tolerances
and in some cases custom‑made components.
These repairs are undertaken by prior agreement only.

- Guarantee applies only to the work carried out
Turnaround
Standard Minox repairs: approximately 2–3 weeks from arrival.
Premium VEF Riga / Minox II repairs may take longer.
Customs declaration (required)
Customs wording must be precise.
Incorrect declarations are the most common cause of delays.
Please use exactly the following wording:
- “Camera for repair – returning to UK technician”
- Declared value: £10–£20 (technical, non‑commercial value)
- HS Code: 9006.59
- “TEMPORARY EXPORT – REPAIR AND RETURN”
This avoids unnecessary import charges and enables smooth processing
on entry and return.
Payment
No payment is requested in advance.
Payment is made only once the repair is complete and approved.
Payment methods will be advised by email once the work is completed.
