films for 8x11mm cameras

Supply

All cassettes are in short supply.  I have a very limited number of plastic cassettes to fulfil orders, and I apologise for delays to existing orders, this is because of a shortage of reasonably priced cassettes. I cannot buy in plastic cassettes at £20 to sell at £14.50 with a film.

My metal cassettes are also running out. I am getting costs for replacements. They are likely to be more expensive.

Third party - Blue Moon

US customers can buy from Blue Moon: $26 - they seem to focus now on BW film 25-400, and 2 x purple colour film from Lomo. Tariffs and taxes have prevented me from importing films for the time being: no-one wants to pay £30 a film,

Third party - Yaofomi

This ebay seller has a very small stock of new Sharan II film. Acros II, Fujifilm 400 and Fujicolor 100. it is very expensive: with taxes it works out at £31 per film. The 400 film is low grain.

Our preferred 8x11 films

We recommend the following. Prices from £14.50 ( unchanged 2016 price)

  • Acros II 100 BW £14.50
  • Pro-Image 100 C41 £14.50
  • Adox CMS 20 BW £14.50

Email for purchasing. Supplies variable because of cassette volatility.

Processing old 8x11mm films

We can process older BW and colour films up to a point. We are testing new chemical technology to reduce the fog in older BW films . Effective speed is reduced, so the films will be fractionally darker than normal. We have processed films from early 1980's, but it is hit and miss.

Anything C41 older than 10 years is unlikely to come out. If you buy such film (Minocolor 3, Minocolor 100, Minocolor 100 Pro), re-spool. Pre C41 (Minocolor, Minocolor 2, Agfa CN 17/18), defintely re-spool it. E6 Slide films 1990-2002 should be Ok to process. We do not currently offer this service, it is unecomomic to provide.

Unusual films to consider

Washi X (C41 aerochrome) is interesting, as it has no orange mask. However, when cutting, remove the first six or seven frames as they all will be fogged with a green tint. Thicker than normal film, we recommend a 30 exposure frame cut.

ADOX 50 HR is very good, but we have had better results with the ADOX CMS20 II

old docu-ortho film is most interesting,. but may need anti-fog agents for effective use.
