International Minox Servicing

MS Hobbies provides servicing for Minox 8×11 and Minox 35 cameras for customers outside the United Kingdom. This page outlines the process for international shipments, customs requirements, turnaround times and return arrangements.

Sending Cameras to the United Kingdom

International customers should describe the item on customs forms as used camera sent for repair. This is the correct description for temporary import for servicing and avoids unnecessary duties.

  • Declare the item as “Used camera for repair – no commercial value”.
  • Do not declare the item as a sale or gift.
  • Include your contact details inside the parcel.

Packages should be sent using a tracked service where available. Cameras should be securely packed to protect the shutter, lens and transport mechanism.

Customs Processing

International parcels entering the UK may be subject to customs inspection. Delays caused by customs authorities are outside our control. Cameras are not subject to import duty when correctly declared as temporary imports for repair.

Return shipments are declared as repaired camera returning to owner. Customers are responsible for any import charges applied by their own country.

Servicing Offered

International customers receive the same servicing options as UK customers:

  • Mechanical overhaul and lubrication (8×11)
  • Shutter and timing adjustment
  • Rangefinder and focus calibration
  • Electronic fault diagnosis (Minox 35)
  • Light‑seal replacement
  • General inspection and functional testing

VEF Minox (Riga) models require extended turnaround due to limited parts availability.

Turnaround Time

Turnaround times for international servicing are similar to UK servicing, but total time will depend on shipping and customs clearance.

  • Minox 8×11 (post‑war): 3–5 weeks (up to 8)
  • VEF Minox (Riga): 6–10+ weeks
  • Minox 35: 4–6 weeks

These times exclude shipping and customs delays.

Return Shipping

Return shipments are sent using Royal Mail International Tracked or a courier service depending on destination and value.

  • Royal Mail International Tracked (where available)
  • Courier services for high‑value items
  • Customs declaration: “Repaired camera returning to owner”
