This page is for customers sending VEF‑made Minox cameras
(early Minox Riga production) to the United Kingdom for repair.
Service scope:
MS Hobbies repairs Minox Riga / VEF and later Minox 8×11 mm cameras.
Other brands are not accepted.
Customs declaration (EU → UK)
Important: Incorrect customs wording is the most common cause of delays.
Fill the customs form exactly as follows:
- “Camera for repair – returning to UK technician”
- Value: €15–€25 (technical, non‑commercial value)
- HS‑code: 9006.59
- “TEMPORARY EXPORT – REPAIR AND RETURN”
Where possible, the repaired camera is returned in its original packaging.
This helps demonstrate that it is a
used camera returning to its owner.
Shipping advice
- Prefer your national postal service for predictable customs handling
- Avoid couriers with high clearance fees (UPS, FedEx)
- Use a sturdy box with internal protection
- Include your name, email address, and a short fault description
If film is inside the camera, send it as it is.
Do not force unfamiliar mechanisms.
Return shipping
Returns are sent via Royal Mail International Tracked.
Typical transit time: 5–10 days.

No pre‑payment: Payment is only requested after the repair is completed.
