Minox Disc Film Products & Options
Available film types and practical considerations for Minox Disc cameras.
Colour Negative Film
Minox Disc cameras were designed for colour negative Disc film. Exposure latitude and resolution are limited compared to larger formats, reflecting the design priorities of the system.
Film Availability
Original Disc film is no longer manufactured. There was only one speed 200 ASA from different brands. Major, and more reliable brands were Kodak, and Fuji. Remaining stocks are expired and should be used with caution. Brands other than Kodak and Fuji should be used with extreme caution. Post-1988 Disc fim has not worn as well.
Storage Considerations
Disc film is particularly sensitive to heat, humidity, and age. Cold storage may improve survivability but does not guarantee usable results.
Practical Use
Disc cameras are best regarded as historical or experimental tools. Film availability and processing limitations should be considered before use. The Minolta Disc 7 is collectible with the mirror and selfie-stick set. A set of coloured Courreges AC 101 - Minolta Disc 5 derivate is quite rare.
MS Hobbies Workshop Note
Disc cameras are mechanically robust, but film availability and processing
limitations define their practical use. Expectations should be adjusted
accordingly. The more usable disc cameras today are lower-end models from Halina. These take
AA or AAA batteries. Halina also produced cameras with telephoto lenses.
