Launched in 1987, the camera was a big seller for Minox: 81k cameras were sold. The white painted version is most collectible with the matching white flashgun. Capable of giving good results: weather symbols for the exposure and a fixed focus f4 35mm lens.
The major differences beteween the AL and the GT series are the 35mm f4 color-minar rather than the 35mm f2.8 color-minotar. Fixed focus 5 feet to infinity.
The AL takes the GT range of accessories. The fashion bags show the market at which the camera was targeted.
The weather symbols decide the exposure. The LED's on the top plate dictate the exposure: Green for OK, Red for Over of Under. The lens on the camera is a special model: a color-minar 35mm f4
The white Minox AL is harder to find in good cosmetic condition: the camera was the usual Macrolon then painted white. Many cameras have the a dirty white finish. Clean with care, as the camera is painted white over black.
